Inside the Safe Delivery Process — What Happens From Purchase to Placement

Buying a safe isn’t like buying a microwave. These things can weigh 500 to 3,000+ pounds, and getting one from our Tennessee showroom to the exact spot in your home or business takes some planning.

At Parker’s Safes & Vaults, we’ve been doing this for years, so I thought I’d pull back the curtain and show you exactly what happens after you say, “I’ll take it.”

Step 1 — The Order and Scheduling

Once you purchase your safe, we lock in a delivery date. If it’s in stock, that can be just a few days out. If it’s a custom order, we’ll schedule it for when it arrives from the manufacturer.

• We’ll ask detailed questions about your location — doorways, stairs, flooring, and tight turns.
• We also check for obstacles like gravel driveways, steep slopes, or soft lawns (trust me, we’ve seen it all).
• Speaking of steps and stairs, when we ask about the number of stairs, we’re talking about how many risers there are, or put another way, how many times you raise your foot.

⚙️ Pro Tip: A few quick smartphone photos of your entryway and path to the safe’s final spot can save everyone headaches on delivery day.

Step 2 — Preparation and Route Planning

We don’t just “show up” and hope for the best.

• Our team reviews your layout and chooses the best path to bring the safe in.
• If we’re going upstairs or downstairs, we plan for the right equipment — safe dollies, stair-climbing machines, or even lift gates or specialized trailers. (Our AirTow Deck Height trailer can take 8000 lbs up to just over dock height)
• We bring protective materials for floors, door frames, and walls.

Step 3 — Loading at Our Facility

Your safe is carefully moved from our warehouse onto our delivery truck.

• We secure it with heavy-duty straps and padding so it won’t shift in transit.
• On bigger jobs, we use liftgates or forklifts to load.

Step 4 — Arrival at Your Location

We arrive in an unmarked, discreet, truck with the crew, equipment, and protection materials ready.

• Before we unload, we’ll do a quick walk-through of the delivery path.
• We’ll double-check door clearances and protect any vulnerable areas like hardwood or tile.

Step 5 — The Move Inside

This is where years of experience matter.

• For flat, easy deliveries, we generally use a track system that stays in place while the safe slides on top. This protects your flooring and doesn’t point load the floor like a wheels from a dolly or cart might do.
• For stairs, we use motorized stair climbers and can usually handle weights up to 1200lbs.
• Tight turns? Our sliders help to pivot without damaging walls or trim.

Step 6 — Final Placement

Once in the room, we set the safe exactly where you want it.

• We check that the door swings open fully without hitting anything.
• If you want it anchored down (highly recommended), we’ll drill and secure it into concrete or wood flooring.
• We make sure it’s level so the door operates smoothly.

Step 7 — Walkthrough and Lock Setup

Before we leave, we:

• Show you how to operate your lock — whether it’s mechanical or electronic.
• Go over warranty information and maintenance tips.
• Make sure you’re completely satisfied with the placement and function.
