Yes, Liberty Made a Big Mistake — And We Called It Out
Back in August 2023, Liberty Safe made headlines for all the wrong reasons. They handed over a safe’s access code to the FBI without the customer’s consent during a raid on a fellow American. Like many of you, we were upset—and we said as much in our videos and on social media. It didn’t sit right with us.
So when Liberty approached us about becoming a dealer, we didn’t just gloss over that incident. We asked Liberty directly about their blunder and asked them to provide their updated policies on data privacy and code retention. (*see bottom of page) They sent us the new policy and after reading it, we were glad to see they’d taken real steps to prevent this kind of thing from ever happening again.
Liberty now allows customers to opt out of code retention entirely, and they’ve changed their policy to require a subpoena (as they should have) before releasing any access information to law enforcement. That’s the kind of accountability we expect—and frankly, demand—from any company we work with.
